Banzai - A Free Online Financial Literacy Program

What is Banzai for schools?
Banzai is a FREE Online financial literacy program. In Banzai, your students will learn to manage, budget, borrow money, and navigate unexpected scenarios and expenses. It’s a virtual world of decision-making. Prepare your students for life with Banzai’s interactive, personal finance curriculum.

Teach Children to Save
Celebrated annually during Financial Literacy Month, Washington Savings Bank partners with area schools to celebrate Teach Children to Save Day. More than 1,000 students from Effingham and Coles County are taught the difference between needs and wants and explore ways to save, spend, and share their money.
Washington Savings Bank has participated in the Teach Children to Save program for over 6 years. Throughout the years, we have worked hard to improve and modify our presentations to help keep the students engaged.

Get Smart About Credit
Get Smart About Credit Day is an annual event held on the third Thursday in October where Washington Savings Bank visits local classrooms to share with students the “credit facts of life.” Students learn about paying for college, knowing their credit score, protecting their identity, and managing their money. Other topics can include creditworthiness, the cost of credit cards, how to read a credit report, and preventing identity theft.

Personal Finance 101
This new class offered by Washington Savings Bank is geared towards people who are wanting to increase their knowledge on credit. Attendees will learn the difference between credit reports and credit scores and ways to improve their credit score if it’s been damaged. Tips on managing a budget are also provided.

Safe Banking for Seniors
Financial abuse against older Americans is a serious concern for our nation. Washington Savings Bank offers a class to help consumers develop the knowledge, tools and capability they need in order to make better informed decisions about securing their finances. Topics discussed include identifying and avoiding scams, protecting their assets by preventing identity theft and choosing a financial caregiver. Online Banking training can also be discussed upon request.

WSB Summertime CEO
Washington Savings Bank offers a program called WSB Summertime CEO which allows children ages 6-12 the opportunity to manage and run their own lemonade stand during the summer.
Similar to a real business, participants will fill out an application and will be interviewed at any of the Washington Savings Bank locations. Once approved, applicants will receive their lemonade stand kit, which includes cups, a pitcher, lemonade mix, sanitizing wipes, a WSB Summertime CEO button, and $2.00 start-up cash. The kits are available while supplies last, with a limit of one kit per family.

WSB Virtual Branch Training
Washington Savings Bank prides itself on helping its customers know and understand their products. One product that customers might struggle with is online banking through our Virtual Branch. In addition to offering help with Virtual Branch every day at any of our locations, we will offer occasional trainings to teach consumers how to set up their online banking, use online bill pay, categorize transactions, make online transfers, set up WSB Card Guard, use TransferNow, download the WSB Mobile app and more.
