WSB Summertime CEO – Another Successful Year
Washington Savings Bank’s Summertime CEO program once again had a successful year. With over 40 participants, the program allowed children ages 6-12 an opportunity to manage and run their own lemonade stand. The program ran throughout the summer from May 21 – July 31.
Just like a real business, participants filled out an application and were interviewed at any of the Washington Savings Bank locations. Once approved, applicants received their lemonade stand kit, which included cups, a pitcher, lemonade mix, sanitizing wipes, a WSB Summertime CEO button and start-up cash.
Also included in the kits was an Income Statement that participants brought to the WSB Summertime CEO Closing Party held in Effingham at the Banker Street location on Saturday, August 4 and in Mattoon on Friday, August 3. Drinks and snacks were provided while Washington Savings Bank employees helped participants fill out their income statements. Once the income statements were turned in, the young CEOs received a certificate of completion and their picture was placed on the WSB Summertime CEO Hall of Fame.
David Doedtman, President of Washington Savings Bank, was excited to get this program going for its second year. “It’s great to see these young CEO’s choose to give their profits to charities such as Texas 4000 for Cancer, FISH School Supply Drive, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and more. This program’s success has lead to over $2,000 being donated back into the community.”
